Renewable Technology – Generate Your Own Energy

Invest in the power of the sun!  Generate a tax free income from solar PV panels

Make money from solar PV panels

Thanks to the Government’s Feed in Tariff, hundreds of UK homeowners are now investing in solar PV panels and generating free electricity and tax free income. Yorkshire Energy Services has its own solar installations wing - YES Renewables, who are qualified and experienced technicians that specialise in fitting solar PV systems to domestic properties.

Renewable Energy

Generating your own energy from renewable sources, such as the sun, wind and water is becoming increasingly popular and affordable as more people look for alternative ways to generate energy in the home.

The Government's Feed in Tariff provides homeowners, who generate their own onsite electricity through a renewable energy system, tax free income through their energy provider for every unit they produce. They can also access a seconded payment for any excess electricity they export to the National Grid. Plans are now in place for a similar scheme for renewable heat technologies. These Government endorsed initiatives have resulted in renewable and low carbon technology becoming increasingly popular.

Yorkshire Energy Services provide expert advice and offer a wide range of renewable technologies, helping customers pick the right system to suit their home. Working with some of the best installers in the country, customers are guaranteed a professional service at a very competitive price. Our subsidiary Solar installations company YES Renewables are MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) accredited, ensuring an experienced and qualified service.

How can renewable technology save me energy ?

Renewable technologies use the earth’s sustainable resources to produce power. Natural energy such as wind, water and sunlight produces much less environmentally damaging greenhouse gases than non renewable fossil fuels, used in more traditional energy systems. Once a system is installed, customers can benefit from an abundant source of free energy for years to come, helping reduce climate change and save money on fuel bills.

Our Services

Yorkshire Energy Services work with selected microgeneration specialists including our own Solar Installations team YES Renewables. We can install 5 varieties of renewable energy systems:

1) Solar Photovoltaic Systems
Solar photovoltaic panels, also know as solar PV panels covert sunlight into electricity which is then used in your home. Any excess generated is returned to the National Grid.  Solar technology has become so advanced that even in a British climate, thousands of householders are benefiting from generating their own electricity.

2) Solar Thermal Systems
Similar to a PV system, Solar Water Heating or Solar Thermal uses sunlight to operate. An efficient system can produce around a third of your annual hot water needs. Most systems can be integrated into an existing hot water system, considerably reducing the amount of non-renewable fuel that is used.

3) Ground Source Heat Pumps
A Ground Source Heat Pump collects heat from underground and converts it into energy which can be used to power a variety of home heating systems. Ideally suited for people with large gardens and no direct access to the mains gas network.

4) Air Source Heat Pumps
Air Source Heat Pumps act almost like a refrigerator in reverse. An external unit converts air from outside the house into heat. The heat is then pumped into a house providing an efficient alternative to more traditional heating systems.

5) Biomass Boilers
Biomass boilers run off small wood pellets or chips that are either manually fed in or dispatched through an electronic device called a hopper. Usually situated in the cellar of a property, Biomass boilers are typically installed to replace inefficient oil or coal burning systems.

Time Scale

The time it takes to install a renewable system can vary depending on property type, access and chosen technology. Typically, after a survey has been carried out most installations are completed within 2 days. Our qualified installers will advice you on a realistic time scale before any work is carried out.

What else can we do to help ?

Yorkshire Energy Services work closely with many Local Authorities that offer grants towards renewable installations. If you are considering Microgeneration, contact the Energy Saving Trust on 0800 512 012 to find out what schemes are available in your area.

Our Customers

Judith Hoyle had Solar (PV) Photovoltaic panels installed on her home in York by our subsidiary installation team YES Renewables.

'I was delighted by how smoothly everything went. The team were pleasant, well organised, worked hard and were very professional. The installation was completed in less than a day, there was no mess and in no time I was generating my own electricity.  To see the sun come out and the meter start ticking is such a buzz. The solar powered monitor is the icing on the cake!  I'm really pleased I decided to go ahead with Solar PV and with YES Renewables.'
