What is Green Deal? Green Deal is a Government initiative set to launch in October 2012 which enables UK residents and small business to access energy saving products and services without any up front installation costs. Similar to a finance package, customers will pay for their installations over time through the savings they will make on their fuel bills. |
Who is eligible for the indicative?
Every UK householder or small to medium sized enterprise can access Green Deal services (subject to a technical assessment).
What is the timeframe of Green Deal?
Green Deal participants will have 25 years to pay off their installation costs through their fuel bill savings.
What services are available?
The following energy saving products can be installed through Green Deal:
- Cavity Wall Insulation
- Loft Insulation
- Solid Wall Insulation
- Condensing Gas Boiler
- Heating Controls (TRVs, Room Thermostat)
How will I cover my installation costs?
Householders or businesses that get energy saving products installed through Green Deal will pay off their installation costs through the saving made in their fuel bills. Green Deal funders will retrieve the money saved by each individual customer until their installation costs are covered.

What is the golden rule?
The Golden Rule guarantees that all installation repayments will be less than the money saved on the customer’s energy bill. This means that residents and businesses partaking in Green Deal will be financially better off throughout the life time of the scheme.
How do I apply for Green Deal?
You can preregister for Green Deal today with Yorkshire Energy Services and be among the first to access energy saving products and services under the scheme. Enquire online and join the waiting list.
What happens at the assessment stage?
As part of the assessment process a Green Deal advisor will visit your home and carry out a technical survey. They will look at all possible installations that could be carried out and assess your fuel bill savings accordingly. Following an assessment, you will be provided with a tailor made action plan which you can take to any Green Deal provider.
