What type of material is used in cavity wall and loft insulation ?
Our installers use a thick mineral wool fiber which is either laid out in rolls or pumped into a cavity.
How long will the job take ?
Typically, an Installation will be carried out within four weeks of an approved technical survey. Timelines can vary depending on access and property type. For a standard semidetached house, cavity wall and/or loft insulation typically takes around 3-4 hours to be installed.
Cavity Wall Insulation

Cavity wall insulation could save you around £135* a year. |
How do I know if I have Cavity Walls?
The majority of homes built after the 1920's have cavity walls. You can determine whether your home has a cavity by looking at the brick pattern on the front of your external walls.

|
| If all the bricks are evenly spaced out and are roughly the same size, it is likely that they are cavity walls. |
If all the bricks are randomly spaced out and are different sizes, it is possible that there will not be a cavity. |
How will I know if my home is suitable ?
Our experienced surveyors will study every wall and carry out a series of safety checks before any work is determined. A cavity needs to be roughly 50mm wide in order for it to be filled. Only homes with even cavities are suitable for insulation.
Some properties including old stone houses are not suitable for cavity wall insulation as their foundations are not compatible with the insulation material. You can feel confident that our qualified team will review every possibility.
What guarantees do you offer on cavity wall Insulation ?
Yorkshire Energy Services provides customers a 25 year CIGA* guarantee on all cavity installations. We estimate that our cavity wall insulation services will pay for itself within a year through the money you will save on your fuel bills.
*CIGA – An independent industry guarantee from the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency
Will my home look different after cavity wall insulation is installed ?
After the holes in your external walls are resealed, we will try our best to match the colour of the sealant to the colour of your brick work. In some cases, airbricks and vents may need to be replaced enabling the insulation materials to work effectively, providing sufficient air flow. Our installer’s take pride in their work and will make sure you home is left presentable after hosing down your walls and sweeping up any dirt or dust.
Can cavity wall insulation cause damp problems to my property ?
Cavity walls were originally built as a barrier to prevent moisture spreading to the inner body of a property. It is a common misconception that filling the cavity would encourage condensation and rising damp. The mineral wool fiber that is used to insulate the cavity is not only waterproof, but lets the walls breathe deterring any unwanted moisture.
Loft Insulation

Loft insulation could save you around £175* per year.

But what if I already have some loft insulation ?
Yorkshire Energy Services provide a loft ‘top up’ service. If a property has 6 inches (150mm) of insulation or less, we will top it up to a full 10.5 inches. Most homes built before 1996 could benefit from increasing the depth of loft insulation. You could save around £25* per year just by topping up your loft insulation.

I have a very small loft hatch, is it still possible to install loft insulation ?
Our installers require sufficient access when carrying out an installation (this will be determined at the survey stage). If your loft hatch is too small, we can arrange another to be fitted at a competitive price. Enquire online today.
Can I buy the insulation material and do the job myself (DIY) ?
Yorkshire Energy Services offer a quality service from survey through to installation. We do not sell the insulation product separately. Many hardware stores do provide loft insulation materials, but it can be difficult to install properly.
