Schemes and Projects
The Big Energy Upgrade
As part of the Government’s Community Energy Saving Programme (CESP), Yorkshire Energy Services are delivering an extensive energy saving scheme in select areas of Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Humberside with a consortium of partners.
The Big Energy Upgrade offers householders from some of the UKs most vulnerable communities energy saving services and support. Residents are offered a tailor made energy advice package and offered free or discounted services to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) announced that 4,500 areas in the UK are eligible for CESP. Yorkshire Energy Services are now delivering CESP projects with key partners and local authorities that fight fuel poverty and improve energy efficiency standards in areas of deprivation.
The project’s main objective is to improve the energy efficiency of homes that are unsuitable for more traditional energy saving measures, whilst helping vulnerable householders take steps towards an affordable, low carbon lifestyle. The Big Energy Upgrade covers the installation of key energy saving products including home insulation, central heating and renewable technologies.
Supported financially by the European Union, the Big Energy Upgrade has attracted a £1 million pound investment from the European Regional Development Fund as part of Europe’s support for the region’s economic development through the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme.
