Free Home Insulation for West Yorkshire Couple

Anne and Charley Bull from Meltham near Huddersfield had just moved into their new bungalow when they noticed that the property didn’t have cavity wall insulation. Concerned about rising fuel bills, the couple contacted Yorkshire Energy Services to help improve the thermal values of their home.

‘We always try our best when it comes to energy saving’ explained Anne, ‘Unfortunately our old house wasn’t suitable for cavity wall insulation as it was stone built, but we knew that the bungalow could have the work done. In fact we were surprised that the previous owners hadn’t done it already.’



Both Anne and Charley are over 70 years of age so were eligible for a grant to cover the cost of cavity wall insulation. Yorkshire Energy Services processed their details and a surveyor contacted the couple to initiate the free home insulation process.

‘The surveyor was very professional and checked the house thoroughly’ explained Charley. ‘He then arranged an installation date with us there and then. We were impressed with how quick everything was. We had only just moved into the house and wanted to get everything sorted so we could just enjoy living here.’

Days later Yorkshire Energy Services’ installers started work on the property and completed the job in just over 2 hours. ‘The installers were brilliant’ commented Anne. ‘There were two blokes and they worked in the worst possible conditions. It was pouring down and the wind was howling but the poor things just kept on going. They worked as a team and when they finished pumping in the insulation they clean the walls and tidied everything away. The weather couldn’t have been worse and they did a brilliant job.’

Following the installation, Anne and Charley have been able to relax in their new home and enjoy a warmer and more comfortable living environment.  ‘We have'nt experienced the place for long but it’s so much warmer than our old house. We can now sit in our front room without any heating on and it stays warm. In the old house, during winter we would have had the heating on all day and covered ourselves in blankets. We also had pretty large fuel bills which was a worry.  Now we can enjoy a warmer home for less.’

The couple are confident that they will save money now their home is fully insulated. ‘We would defiantly recommend Yorkshire Energy Services. They did a great job and we are really happy with everything.’
